The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality crash that took the life of a teenager last night.
The crash occurred about 7:17 p.m. Dec. 14 on A Highway near 112th Street. The teen driver of a Chevy Impala lost control, sideswiping a Ford F-150, then striking a Dodge Ram head-on.
The teenage boy was declared deceased at the scene. Two adults and two children in the Dodge Ram were transported to hospitals with moderate injuries. The driver of the F-150 was not injured. Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
The teen’s identity will be released when the family has completed notifying relatives.
Deputies were initially notified of the crash by a call from a smart watch worn by one of the occupants of the Dodge Ram that detected a crash and called 911. The Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate.
