Court Security

11 S. Water St.
816-407-3744

Court Security is responsible for the safety and security of everyone entering the Clay County Circuit Court, including staff.

The first part of the security process begins at the main lobby, where anyone entering the courthouse must pass through a metal detector after all personal property has been placed on the X-ray and checked for any prohibited items (weapons of any kind, handcuff keys, etc.).

The Rooney Justice Center has a total of nine courtrooms and nine judges with a deputy sheriff assigned to each courtroom as the bailiff.  Each bailiff is in charge of ensuring court proceedings are conducted in an orderly and safe manner.

Court Security also is tasked with escorting all inmates housed in Clay County Detention to and from their court appearances, as well as answering alarm/distress calls that cover the Juvenile Justice Center, the County Administration Building and clerks’ offices.
