Fingerprinting

JULY 10, 2025 UPDATE: 

Due to needed repairs, several Sheriff's Office services have had to temporarily relocate. 

Fingerprint services, as well as the offices of the Concealed Carry Weapons and Sex Offender Registration and Enforcement units, have moved from their normal location of 27 S. Main St. to the adjoining building at 12 S. Water St., Liberty, Mo. The public lobby at 27 S. Main St. is closed until repairs are completed. 

Hours in the temporary location remain the same: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. How long the 27 S. Main St. lobby will remain closed has yet to be determined.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office offers a digital fingerprinting service for those needing fingerprints for a variety of reasons, including; professional licensing, background checks, employment and volunteer positions. The Livescan machine is used to capture your prints digitally. We do not offer ink fingerprinting.

We’ll print out a set of two cards for you to submit to the agency requesting the prints. The type of card we use is FD-258, which is standard.

Cost: $10 for a set of two cards (exact cash only)

Each additional set is $10.

 

An appointment is required for fingerprints. We cannot accept walk-ins. Please call 816-407-3740 to schedule your appointment.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 9-11:45 a.m. and 1-2:45 p.m.

 - A valid photo ID (e.g. driver’s license),
- $10 (exact) cash
- Any instructions/forms given to you from the agency requesting prints.
- If you need us to mail the cards for you, you will need to provide the appropriate postage.
