State law to increase civil service fees in 2026

All civil service fees charged by the Clay County Sheriff's Office will increase by $10 starting Jan. 1, 2026.

These are fees charged for Sheriff's Office deputies to serve court orders. 

In the last legislative session, the Missouri General Assembly passed into law a new $10 fee for civil service that will go to the state Sheriff Retirement Fund in House Bill 147. The current and new fees are listed on the Civil Process page. 

The Sheriff's Office does not currently accept credit cards or electronic payments and is unable to provide change.
