Sheriff's Office recognizes heroic acts in ceremony
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office honored its deputies and staff for courageous acts and exceptional performance in a ceremony Dec. 8.
Among some of the awards Sheriff Will Akin presented were a Meritorious Service Award for a deputy and Citizen Certificate of Appreciation for a Good Samaritan for their work pulling a suicidal young woman about to jump off a bridge to safety. Other deputies received the Life-Saving Award for rescuing a runaway teen who was suffering from a drug overdose. A K9 deputy and his dog earned the Special Commendation for far exceeding the national average success rate in human tracking.
These are just some of the 17 different awards and recognitions that took place Monday in the semi-annual ceremony at the new Law Enforcement Resource Center.
