Detectives investigate after body found in Missouri River

UPDATE, AUG. 8, 4:35 P.M.: The deceased is identified as 32-year-old Dusenge Y. Mukiza of Kansas City, Kan.

 

UPDATE, AUG. 8, 2025: 

 

Investigators have positively identified the individual whose body was located in the Missouri River on Wednesday evening, but the name is being withheld until next-of-kin are notified. He is a black male in his 30’s. An autopsy revealed no evidence of trauma or foul play

 

ORIGINAL, AUG. 7, 2025:

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a couple who was fishing located a body in the Missouri River last night. 

 

The couple called 911 at about 8:40 p.m. and reported seeing a body in the water near 210 Highway and Edwards Road. When deputies arrived, they found the body of a man on the north side of the river. The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Water Patrol Division assisted with recovering the man’s body. 

 

Due to the state of the body, detectives have not yet been able to determine the man’s identity. Investigation is ongoing.
